Building the business of your dreams: Strategies for Growth

Building the business of your dreams: Strategies for Growth

Click here to listen to Brett talking about the three key areas that business owners need to address to bring the fun back into the business by improving their Practice Management skills

Unless you’ve done an MBA, or some other formal business study, you’ve probably learned everything you know about managing your business at the coalface. There’ll be some positives in that to be sure, but I daresay there’ll also be some gaps that, if you could fill them, would allow you to progress a whole lot faster.

When you get to focus on what you’re good at, giving financial advice to clients is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. But it very quickly becomes a slog if you spend most of your days dealing with ‘management stuff’ rather than seeing clients.

Most firms have got reams of management information or MI, but it rarely provides a whole lot of insight into what’s happening in their business. A lot of the data is stuff around sales pipeline, clients secured, new fees earned, new AUM and recurring income. Don’t get me wrong you need to know that stuff, but it’s rear view mirror information; it just tells you what happened. It doesn’t provide any real insight into where there might be issues in your business, so that you can proactively explore them, identify the blockage, resolve it and move forward.

At our upcoming Practice Management workshop I’m going to be dealing with three very specific areas that can be major sticking points for business owners and managers.

• Understanding your business financials;

• Building your ideal team;

• Managing the business effectively week to week and month to month.

On the day we’ll get you working through your own business numbers in a spreadsheet that’ll do all the calculations for you.

You’ll enter your information: it won’t be for public comment and you won’t have to share it with anyone else attending.

It isn’t going to be a contest. It’s going to be a day where you can really get to the truth of the situation for your business.

It’s going to be a fantastic day, surrounded by like minded peers who are really motivated to improve.
